Actually, for a coach like me, it’s also an awesome tool (and toy)!

Now, this special hockey software program will easily help you compile stats.   However, that’s not all it can do…

  • track team offensive and defensive tendencies
  • help teach players visually
  • quickly and easily store all of your team’s important statistics
  • identify development gaps in your hockey program
  • create plays & drills based directly on live team play
  • reinforce in-game strategy from lessons learned in games and practices

As a coach, my mind is racing as I experiment with my SPA!  I mean, here are just a few things I found I can study or plot with the Performance Analyzer…

  • Shot locations

  • Blocked Shots
  • Face-offs
  • Hits (w/locations)
  • Plus/Minus Stats
  • Specialty Unit Stats

Just thinking…  With our seasons now winding down, it’s a good idea to look ahead — right now — to the ways we want to do things different and better next year.

As for me, I’m thinking of enlisting a volunteer or two to use the SPA during each game.  (I might even drive them crazy with the kinds of input I’d like to use for our kids’ sakes!)

I’m also thinking I’ll build an area on our team website so that my players (and their parents?) can have access to certain things that will help their game.

If there’s drawback to this program, it is a little pricey.  Still, I can see every junior, college and pro team NEEDING a Sports Performance Analyzer program (if they want an edge on their opponents).  And, the SPA might even be within reach for some high-powered high school teams.  Then, there are those over-the-top youth coaches like yours truly who can’t do without this kind of advantage.  (Oh, thankfully, SPA does offer payment plans for coaches, teams, parents, or players who wish to purchase the software.)
